Are American’s already being hurt by Trump’s polices?

Today I read that construction company’s are already slowing down because people aren’t showing up for work because they are afraid that they will get deported. I also heard that citrus fruit is not being picked for the same reason. Over 80% of the fruit pickers are migrants and illegals and the numbers are probably the same for vegetable pickers. It was easy for Trump to start mass deportations but he has no plan on how to solve the problems it creates. Cheers!

The guy that told me about the fruit pickers also told me that Jimmy Patterson bought 200 food stores in America. Jimmy Paterson pretty much has a monopoly on the food chains in Canada and part of it is thanks to his Western Family products. Which will soon be available across America. Not sure about this part but I think Western Family products in America will help repair the damage Trump has done to the relationship between the two countries. Western Family soups are wholesome and mmm mmm good. So it would have a better chance of repairing relationships - than the sour grapes Trump has been dishing out. Cheers!

Then the contractors/farmers can now hire Americans.

It is wrong to hire illegals so other contractors cannot compete on price.

    They can hire Americans.

High schooler used to do farm work in the summertime.

My Dad as a child (not even high school) when it came time for Strawberry harvest.   All the schools let out and the kids picked strawberries.

They can must hire Americans....period.  That may mean they have to pay a fair wage. We should not allow illegals in just so we can have slaves.  We have laws against that.

Farmers already can't find enough workers. They have to apply to be accepted into the H2-A program so they can bring in temporary foreign workers. One of the requirements is that they will not affect the wages of similarly employed US citizens. Farm work is not only hard and low paid, it is seasonal/ temporary so workers do not qualify for Healthcare and other benefits. For some reason, this does not appeal to Americans. To change how much farm workers are paid and provide benefits will probably make food grown in the US much costlier than food grown elsewhere unless we put enormous tariffs on imported food. Or billionaire CEO's and their shareholders could make less money. I wonder how this will play out for consumers.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if farmers are considering raising their prices now in anticipation of the chaos that is going to ensue with the Trump administration and it's tariffs.  You know that once prices are raised, it would be unlikely that they will be reduced.  Even Trump said that.

I've heard farmers are worried about having to leave crops in the field to rot.

I've head that, too.  But, hey - what's a few rotten crops as long as we get rid of the undesirables?

I think the problem is bigger than just finding enough Americans willing to do the migrants jobs. It takes a bit of skill and experience to harvest crops. If not done properly the plants can be damaged . And if not done quick enough crops can rot in the field. Cheers!

No, we can just send school kids to do it, apparently.
