Netflix making a "Little House on the Prairie" reboot, will they ruin it?

They probably will ruin it – reboots usually pale in comparison to the original series. I do like spin offs. I have been watching a new series called Shifting Gears – staring Tim Allen and Kat Dennings – seems pretty funny so far. Cheers!

Especially it being from Netflix.   I don't have high hopes.

I have Shifting Gears recorded in my DVR but have not actually watched it yet.  Glad to hear it is funny.  Most of Allen's stuff is good.

Yeah I'm hoping one of the eposids will have a guest apperance by the woman who played Sofie on 2 Broke Girls - I got a kick from her. Cheers!

It could happen. I know several cast members from Allen's previous show made appearances on Last Man Standing.

99.9% of all reboots can't come close to the original.  That's usually because most shows are tied to the time, circumstances, and audience of when they came out - and those elements are constantly changing.  What was funny, challenging, or contemporary in one era isn't relevant in another.

That's funny; I only just started watching the first season and think it holds up perfectly well. I'll be interested in seeing what they do with this reboot—which doesn't mean I expect it to be nearly as good.

I think it might hold up because of the timer period in which it takes place.  Comedies from a time prior to everyone getting offended by everything everyone says (think Blazing Saddles) wouldn't make it.

Are you watching on Netflix?  If so, you are one of the reasons they decided to do the reboot.

I agree, the original does hold its own. This post was edited by my2cents at January 30, 2025 3:27 PM MST

No, on Peacock. Why are you trying to say it's my fault? Hehe.

For the reboot, yes your fault.   :)
But we will blame Netflix if the ruin it.
