Forget the how-many-stars-in-the-sky question, how many stars are NOT in the sky?

[Celestial/astrological stars only, not the so-called human ones. Grrrr. ~]

More than we can see in the sky.  They just aren't visible to us from the patio.

Zero.  If they are not "in" the sky, then they are not stars (their remains could be nebulae).
Just because we cannot see them (e.g. one's telescope is aimed at the neighbor's bedroom window instead of the sky), doesn't mean they aren't up there.  It's hard to spot a brown dwarf or a neutron star (even with a telescope), but they are still out there.
