Can you see any flaws in Trump’s new plan?

The US government is offering migrants who are in the country illegally a sum worth $1,000 plus paid travel if they decide to leave the US.

One of the flaws might be an illegal could get in line – collect $1000 and a free plane ticket – leave the US – sneak back in – buy a fake mustache – and get back in line for another $1000 and free plane ticket.

Another flaw might be lack of interest. Someone that walked 100s of miles and crossed rivers of barbed wire to get into the US are not going to take the offer.

The WH has already said that an illegal has signed up and I’m sure that next week they will be claiming that 1000s of illegals have signed up.

Cheers!

I thought this administration vowed to slash the deficit.  So... where is this $1000 coming from? (yeah, I know it's in the new budget)  If all the "illegals" take him upon this offer (just say they do), how much will it cost - UP FRONT?  Plus there's the possibility that what you said MAY happen ("illegals" aren't stupid).  Add this cost to his BD parade, his massive tax cuts for the wealthy, and his massive increase in military spending .......... doesn't that raise the deficit?

Almost every thing Trump does raises the deficit. But what it doesn't do is bring down the cost of living. I bet Trump hasn’t put any thought or time into bringing down the cost of living - like he promised to do on day one. Cheers!

I know.  I was trying to be rhetorical without offending anyone.

A $1000 is cheaper than letting them stay....

Not if they're working and paying taxes and paying into Social Security.

It isn't just the $1,000 - factor in the cost of the airfare for the individuals as well as families and the fact that if these folks are working and paying taxes, that money is also gone, and you've got an even bigger loss.

Yes, but it's more important to punish people for wanting a better life than to do anything to better the lives of US citizens.  (According to certain unnamed groups).

It sounds like a sting operation to me. I suspect most undocumented immigrants might feel that way too.

Yeah I was thinking that too.

Trump just deported three young children who are US citizens - including one with cancer - to Honduras alongside their mothers.

So I’m sure the immigrants don’t trust him. Cheers!

No, the Mother was being deported. She chose to take her children with her and the US gave the children a free plane ticket to join their Mother.

If you read how these cases went down, according to multiple reports, these mothers weren't give the time or opportunity to make arrangements for their children, or to contact family or lawyers and somehow this means that the mothers made the choice willingly according to right-wingers. I guess that helps them sleep at night.

I read that one of the kids wasn't even giving the time to get dressed – she was herded out side in her underwear.
It doesn't seem very likely that a mother - that might of gone through great hardship and danger - for a chance at a better life – would choose to bring her kid to a country full of hardships and danger and not much chance for a better life. I bet the mother could of found someone to take care of her child in a heart beat but she wasn't giving the time to arrange it. Cheers!

They can leave freely on their own (with $1,000) or be unvoluntarily deported and never be allowed to be considered for legal immigration again.

Sounds like a good deal for the illegal.

I am sure if they come back, they will be deported or jailed and then deported with no option to apply for legal entry in the future.

I'm sure the press secretary will be claiming 460m illegals have taken this offer and left by June. Just hope they don't use the money to buy fentanyl, otherwise the death count will go up by another 50m before they've got on the plane.
