Will this really really really tick Trump off?

Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday suggested California consider withholding tens of billions in annual federal tax dollars amid reports Donald Trump is preparing funding cuts targeting the state. I think it is a great idea and it might make senators think twice about about voting for Trumps bill.
Cheers and happy weekend!

Most, if not all, of the blue states pay in more to the federal treasury than they get back which means most of the red states are welfare states. I think Newsom is on the right track - withholding funds would seem to be leverage here. This post was edited by Spunky at June 8, 2025 11:10 AM MDT

Trump used cutting off funds in his first term and he is trying it again. But I don’t think it will work this time. I hope other States start playing hard ball with Trump - and I am pretty sure he will back down - because Trump Always Chickens Out.

    Cheers and happy weekend!

Another pi$$ing contest - and both contestants have "little" to contribute to the contest.

All trump is doing is tearing apart the nation - all because he cant admit he doesn't know what he's doing.  he has others think for him (while he takes the credit), but the others he relies on are as clueless as he is.

Meanwhile, newsome continues to give this state multiple headaches - continuing to fund a high speed railway that is nothing but a money pit (for over 20 years now), giving full healthcare to undocumented immigrants (and raising taxes to pay for it).  Like trump, he too passes "laws" that benefit himself.

If people refuse to file and pay their taxes in California,  then those IRS agents that Biden hired will have plenty to do...

If Cal does not want to follow Fed regulations about schools and immigration then they should lose that Fed tax money.

Trump wants to eliminate the IRS.  Guess who will benefit most by that.

I have ZERO problem with eliminating the IRS.
    That benefits the whole country.

But in the meantime, those in CAL who refuse to file and pay their F1040 etc can deal with IRS agents that Biden just hired. This post was edited by my2cents at June 9, 2025 9:32 AM MDT

BY ALL MEANS, LET'S DO AWAY WITH THE IRS.

"IRS tops $1 billion in past-due taxes collected from millionaires; compliance efforts continue involving high-wealth groups, corporations, partnerships"

Yes let's do that.   We can have the ERS instead.

Or go to the Fair Tax and only be taxed (sales tax on purchases, everyone pays, illegals, rich, tourists etc) on what we spend on non necessities.
