Charlie Kirk; what are your personal beliefs and feelings about him and is teachings?

Kirk rejected the separation of church and state, calling it a “fabrication,” and pushed the integration of Christianity into conservative political action.
The Constitution specifically prohibits the melding of church and state.  This is NOT a "Christian" nation.  It is a nation of varied religions, all of which we are permitted to practice (or not) as we choose.

Kirk repeatedly stated that women should prioritize motherhood over careers, asserting young women are suffering because they are encouraged to focus on jobs over families. He criticized birth control, claiming it makes women “angry and bitter” and that females over 30 “aren’t attractive in the dating pool,” comments labeled as misogynistic.  He also believed wives should submit to their husbands in all things.
I am neither a wife nor a mother.  As such, I have had to work in order to maintain myself.  For many years, I used birth control and I was neither angry nor bitter and as for females over 30 not being attractive in the dating pool, I disagree.  Looks shouldn't be the ultimate criteria for attraction.  As far as submitting - women are not chattels.

Kirk was a prominent anti-LGBTQ activist, frequently voicing opposition to LGBTQ rights and policies.
What other people do in the privacy of their bedrooms is of no concern to anyone else.  The LGBTQ community is comprised of human being just like heterosexuals and, as such, are entitled to the same consideration and fair treatment.

On gun violence, he said, "I think it’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the second amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational."
Good to know he died for his beliefs.

I'm sure Kirk held other beliefs with which I would take issue.  Frankly, though a young man, his thinking is archaic and his beliefs about women, homosexuals, race and religion are not conducive to a free society.  I often wonder if men with his outlook find walking on their knuckles painful.

Frankly, I never heard of him until the other day.  I rightly don't care about whatever mumbo-jumbo he was "preaching".

He was young and his views were still evolving. I suspect that very few 45 year-old political activists and influencers believe exactly the same things that they did 15 years ago.

But politically, he means nothing to me. Here in Britain, I don't think many people outside of the chronically online Right had even heard of him before the assassination.

No doubt. At age 15yr old, I was a liberal, my first vote was for Bill Clinton.

I don't think it's a good idea to say anything about Charlie Kirk. Freedom of Speech can no longer be taken for granted. Just ask Jimmy Kimmel.

    Excellent answer and unfortunately true.
People losing jobs simply for having thoughts about him or his thoughts and beliefs. Or having thoughts or reactions to things after his terrible murder.

(I edited my own answer. Added to it right after I posted.)

I think this has a lot to do with the fact that, like CBS, Nexstar is currently seeking FCC approval for a $6.2 billion acquisition of Tegna, another major U.S. broadcaster.  I'd pretty sure this move to sideline Kimmel is to placate Trump so the FCC allows the acquisition.

Yes, I assume you may be correct.
And on many different news sites, I've read this post from the president. My question -- do I now get to fire the president for his simply sharing his thoughts?

“Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social on Wednesday night. “Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible. That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!!”

I wish it was that easy.  Hopefully, one day Karma will come for him and all of the nastiness he has spewed will come back to bite him.

FCC chairman, Brendan Carr, has recently seemed to soften his stance about government overreach in policing the media. Make of that what you will.

“The F.C.C. should promote freedom of speech,” - unless Trump doesn't like what they're saying about him.  Then, they should be silenced.

Yes, but FCC chairman Brendan Carr, also talked about 'remedies' such as revoking licenses for ABC affiliates. We shall see who's next. Authoritarian governments want to control the media.

You know it's bad when even Tucker Carlson is concerned.

It won’t be long before TV news is being delivered by anchors wearing white hoods. Meanwhile, as more freedoms start slipping away, people in trailer parks will still be pointing fingers at immigrants. Trump is attempting to take the US towards an amalgamation of China and 1930s Germany.

No one's rights have been taken away.

Kimmel's bosses (the owners of several individual ABC stations) did not like what he said. And he refused to correct his blatant lie. So those bosses were refusing to air his show.  Which caused the main boss ABC/Disney to take the show off the air.

No rights were lost by anyone. This post was edited by my2cents at September 19, 2025 5:58 PM MDT

After reading more about this, I learned that Nexstar and Sinclair, who control the affiliate stations, decided to stop airing Kimmel's before ABC pulled it, and I believe even before, the FCC chairman made his comments. So, your comment about the merger seems to be accurate.

Nexstar has been airing the show for over 20 years, and for the last 10 years Kimmel has made jokes at Trumps expense.

The right is trying to characterize Kimmel's comment as a lie, but I can't see it. He said MAGA was desperately trying to characterize the killer as anything other than one of them. He did not say the killer was MAGA. Nor did we know anything about the killer's idealogy at the time Kimmel made the comment. We did know his upbringing and it would make sense for MAGA to want to not have him be one of them.

IMO, Nexstar seized the opportunity to curry favor with Trump.

"MAGA was desperately trying to characterize the killer as anything other than one of them..."

How is that not claiming this evil murderer is MAGA?

I respect that you have a different interpretation, but I believe I was very clear about why I have a different opinion.

I have no interest in continuing this conversation.

Just took the exact quote from Kimmel.  It has also been reported that Kimmel was not willing to apologize,  he was going to come out the next night further attack MAGA people, this is when Disney/ABC said nope you are not going on the air period.

This may be my last post on this question but you know what? I'm almost laughing now.

For YEARS now - - the MAGA, Trump and the rest of his supporters kept saying that "I" was the one being so 'sensitive,'  offended at everything, etc.
    - -  (in fact, this was on several flags in my community when Trump wanted me to vote for him --" 'EFF' Your Feelings  Trump 2024" and we all know what 'Eff' stands for. The flag said the actual word.
Also flags saying "Eff you if you voted for Biden"

I could take it. I did NOT demand the flags be taken down.

and now what is it? -- all those poor MAGAs, poor Trump, and his supporters, their feelings were hurt when someone said something with which they disagreed . "WAAA! FIRE him!!"  - - Grow a backbone people. Deal with it.
People will disagree with you in this life.

    Be well, all,
