Did you hear about Trump’s diet pill wish sandwich?

Trump just made a deal to bring down the cost of diet products in America. I think he should be bringing down the cost of food in America instead. So I made this joke up about him.

Did you hear about Trump’s diet pill wish sandwich?

A Trump diet pill wish sandwich is were you have a handful of diet pills and you wish you had some bread.
(stole some of that from the Blues Brothers)

Cheers!

Groceries are coming down. And will continue.

The cost of a Thanksgiving dinner is 25% lower than last year.

That’s what Trump claimed. But it seems that he got that 25% cheaper thing from a Wallmart Thanksgiving promotion. A 25% sale at one store doesn't indicate that food prices are 25% cheaper all across America. Cheers and happy weekend!

It is a stat that is announced every year.  And it is down 25% this year.

I know last year you could not get turkey for less than a $1/lb and this year $0.85/lb.   That is a significant drop.

I know some prices have dropped and some are about the same.

Pretty sure stats aren't released or counted during a government shut down. And I am still pretty sure Trump got his stats from a Wallmart promotion. Turns out the Wallmart Thanksgiving basket was a little bit misleading. The 2025 basket has 6 less items and more generic items than the 2024 basket. Cheers and happy weekend!

Also, one should not assume that if turkey is $.85 per lb. one place, it's the same price everywhere. The least expensive in my area is at Aldi - $.97 per lb.  The least expensive in Giant was $1.99 per lb.

Of course, but the point is compared to last year's price.

Purdue University market analysts expect the average retail price of a whole turkey to reach $2.05 per pound in November. That would be about 25% higher than the November 2024 retail price.

Walmart app will let you put in any location in the country.  (I do not live in Pittsburgh Penn)
Walmart right now nationwide whole frozen turkey .84 to .97 per pound.

"They expect....."    so anyone who pays the expected $2.05 is not worried about the prices at all. This post was edited by my2cents at November 9, 2025 5:53 AM MST

You seem to think that because the price you pay where you live is the price everyone else pays.  That is not necessarily so.  But, start yet another argument why don't you?

I just watch a vid of Trump bragging about his weight loss deal. When he was done bragging he asked Dr. Oz to elaborate and Dr. Oz said – Mr. president we estimate that Americans will lose 135 billion pounds by midterms. As soon as I heard those numbers I knew they couldn't be right but Trump nodded his head and then did a little more bragging about what an accomplishment he made.

135 billion pounds divided by 340 million people would = an average of a 400 pound weight loss per person.

I think it shows the Trump team pulls numbers out of their butts to get votes.

    Cheers
