My answer -- I'll say again, as a very young boy, Bobbie Gentry led me astray to the very rare place of powerful, attention-grabbing yet incredibly unassuming, beautiful, moving, poetic quiet songs. Among many thoughts, young little WelbyQ thought, "So sad and she's mentioning apple pie and biscuits. So real. So sad."
No song at all has come close for me to the lifelong sensations Gentry created. I'm grateful always for Gentry's leading me to her creation.
