Is the US the only country where the loser gets elected to the highest office in the land? Any other country as a **-backwards as the US?

As of Tuesday, November 15, 2016 Hillary has received   61,963,234 votes and Donald has received 60,961,185. Counting continues.  Hillary has won over one million more votes than Donald. When all the counting is done who knows what the disparity will be?  Is  America the only country that rewards the loser and penalizes the people?

Again, Rosie, the electoral college is meant to protect the other states from the more populous ones (like California and New York) trampling all over them. Each state gets some representation and has a say in who leads the union and Trump won over a majority of the states. It's basically the states deciding and the people of each individual state help their respective state decide who they want. It's not a good idea to just ignore the smaller states just because some are more populous, that would be a really good way to piss them off..

Especially when the tax dollars from the smaller population states are paying for the large population states that are in debt.

You're one million years old and we're supposed to believe that this is the first election you've experienced in which the popular vote didn't match up with the electoral vote?  Good grief.
