Should Trumps business PROFIT from his presidency??

Hello:

If Ivanka Trump's husband is part of her fathers administration, WHO in the world is gonna REFUSE to do business with her?  When Heads of State come to curry favor, will they stay ANYWHERE but the Trump International Hotel in Washington, DC???

Do you see any conflicts there?  If you do, are you FINE with them??  What could possibly go wrong?

  • You own a business. Would you do business with her/them/him? Why or why not? Agree/dis?

    Hello Mr.

It's NOT about doing business..  It's about doing business WHEN you're a head of state.

Here's another example.  Trump doesn't OWN his DC hotel..  The GOVERNMENT does.  Trump appoints the head of the GSA - his LANDLORD..  When it's time for Trump to renew his lease, THAT'S the guy he'll be negotiating with..

Do you think he's gonna get favorable terms?  Should he?  Are you FINE with that?  Would you call it CORRUPT??

  • You said "WHO in the world is gonna REFUSE to do business with her"? I'm assuming you would. So other people would too. Unless you are saying business owners are corrupt and have no morals.

Of course it is corrupt, or at the very least bending the "rules". Actually, what are the rules? Nobody but lawyers know. They are all courrupt.

I guess you want business owners to be excluded from running for president? Better amend the constitution.

    Hello again, Mr.

I dunno HOW you miss these points...  They're NOT difficult.

I don't have a business relationship with the government.  Consequently, I wouldn't HAVE a conflict of interest if I did business with Ivanka.  Were I to do business with her, it would NOT be because I was trying to curry favor.  It would be because I LIKED what she was SELLING..

But, not everybody is as honest as I am.  Seems to me, it would easier to re-brand Ivankas stuff so that NOBODY who bought it would KNOW that it's hers..

    Hello again, Mr.

Jeese..  You're STILL missing stuff..  HAVING a business while you're president ISN'T a conflict..  DOING business while your president IS..

  • So, presidents should sell off their businesses?

Well, other people being corrupt isn't the president's fault.

    Hello again, Mr.

You've never heard the words blind trust???    I think you have..  I think you're pulling my chain, now.

It's a legal framework where presidents park their assets so they're BEYOND their reach while they're serving as president..

You're right about ONE thing, though. Other people being corrupt isn't the presidents fault.  But the PRESIDENT being corrupt IS.

These are NOT hard concepts to grasp..  I dunno WHY you're having so much trouble..

  • I'm not. Business owners are corrupt. Politicians are corrupt. What is YOUR point?

Such things are insignificant. Trump is going to lose far more business from butthurt liberals boycotting him than he gains from a few people sucking up to him. Running for president hasn't been a good financial move for Trump at all.

Government contracts are the only significant consideration. It's fine for the Trump organization to get government construction contracts so long as there is open biding for the contract in competition with other companies. That way the market sets the price and the taxpayer isn't ripped off. It's no bid contracts that are the great evil.

Expecting Trump to put his assets into a blind trust is unreasonable. He is too big for that. You seriously expect him to liquidate everything he worked so hard to build and let some idiot invest it for him? What if they screw up? Any businessman of Trump's caliber is going to know how fragile the world economy is right now and how critical it is to be positioned correctly (i.e. in physical things, not paper backed by nothing but promises.) Only a fool would trust others to manage their affairs in these turbulent times.

    Hello Trumptastic:

Oh, I agree.  He's NOT going to put his assets into a blind trust..  I'm simply saying that NOT doing so, is an INVITATION to corruption..

Like I was telling Mr..  These are SIMPLE concepts.  An exconvict shouldn't have to teach straight people about ethics..
