"Nothing corrupts you unless you are corrupt to begin with."

You do realize that that is an untrue statement, don't you?  Oh, wait, I can't overlook the Rosie Rule: start with a false premise and build from there.

    Please disregard.

Didn't that phrase on Google used to point to the George W. Bush biography page on whitehouse.gov?

No, that was "miserable failure." Sorry, my mistake...;-D...

    I disagree.

I think empirical evidence teaches us there are very few saints and sinners at the ends of the bell curve, who cannot be corrupted for any price, or who will default to self-interest in the most trivial matters. Within the vast area stretching 4-5 sigmas either way from the mean are the overwhelming majority of us who, if given the right combination of pressure and incentive, will yield and make decisions which are arguably "corrupt."

If someone offered me $1 million to eat a bug right now, I would refuse. If I needed $1 million to pay for life-saving medical care for a family member or close friend, I would eat a bug for that sum with scarcely a moment's hesitation.

So, am I "corrupt" or not?

    Humans are corruptible by nature.
