Reversing himself on significant promises delights me. It doesn't cancel the despair I feel because he's there but it helps. Who IS PET?

  • Who is PET? He's an outspoken, idiot with an over inflated ego who hood-winked an awful lot of very silly people who foolishly believed a load of unrealistic hype. It delights me that he's back tracking too ..he's still an idiot who WONT make America great again but hopefully at least he will be relatively harmless.

I always laughed at the concept of making America great again, wondering to what time in history PET was referring. World Wars 1 & 2? Korea? Vietnam? When women didn't have the right to vote? When there was slavery? Japanese Internment Camps? When there was a bitter, hard fought Civil Rights Movement followed by racism which exists to this day? 9/11? The Gulf War? The Iraq War? The War in Afghanistan? To what period would PET like us to return?

Too busy lobbing softballs. I've never seen a group of people so intimidated by a candidate, second only to the spineless Republican party. So there's no reason to think he won't go right on doing whatever he wants. Heck, looks like Ivanka and her husband will have major roles in running the country. Mind boggling. We are truly living in the movie "Idiocracy."

"Making America Great Again" is about changing the CULTURE. It's a backlash against the cultural Marxist decline of western civilization.

The right view much of the cultural change of the last century to be regress, BUT NOT ALL. Asking what period Trump would like to return to is a false question. Obviously SOME of the changes in the last century are good. Asking what time we want to return to implies rolling back on the good things and the bad things.

Your list of problems shows that you consider unity, conflict avoidance, and egalitarianism to be the main markers of societal greatness. I don't think so.

I'd say greatness is a pretty hard thing to define. Though to me it is not just about moral virtue. It's about achievement. It's about growing, innovating, overcoming, building the future. This post was edited by Zeitgeist at November 24, 2016 5:30 AM MST
