A Dutch pol named Geed Wilders was convicted of hate speech against Moroccans. But he won't be penalized. What's the point of convicting?

In America we charge and try but never convict a certain SPECIAL class of citizen.  I mean that's what we do with all the cops who kill unarmed young black men. We go to the expense of charging/trying but there is never any convicting of a cop. Maybe once there was but that was an anomaly/fluke. So how many millions of bucks do we waste knowing ahead of time what the conclusion will be? Who is fooling whom? Why bother pretending?  Once you know it was the cop who did the killing just write it off to part of his job. Part of the chances citizens take if they happen to be the wrong color. Is it any better than lynching? I dunno. You'd have to ask those who have experienced what it's like to have relatives suffer those consequences.
