How would YOU prefer to spend YOUR tax dollars? Given to Israel for its defense or given to Americans so they aren't hungry? Why?

The amount of money we give to Israel is tiny compared to the 'Snap' (foodstamps) cost.

3 BILLION A YEAR FOR TEN YEARS. That's new newest Israel welfare package Obama appproved. How do you think Netanyahu uses that money? To buy weapons that kill people bh! Food stamps prevent death. There is a world of difference between funding death and funding life. If you can't see there is nothing to discuss. Thank you for your reply.

If it's a question of giving my tax dollars to Israel or almost any other Middle East country, African dictatorship, South/Central American banana republic, I'll choose Israel every time and if we were to stop giving foreign aid to all those other countries, there would be more than enough to feed Americans, get rid of the homeless problem, take care of our veterans, etc.

  • Are you sure about that SS?  The US currently gives less than 1% of the 4 trillion or so it has to play with every year.

Now, while that's a lot of money, I don't think it would even begin to cover the cost of supplying the areas you name.  A third of the money spent on US foreign aid goes on medical supplies - many of which are produced in the US and provide jobs, cash, etc to the home economy.  So a small amount of money (relatively speaking) is already reduced by a third in terms of how cost effective to the US economy stopping it would be.

Would I swear to that - no, but 4 trillion dollars, used WISELY, would certainly go pretty far in taking care of our own.  Add to that the ridiculous caveats attached to housing the homeless and you'll see what I mean.  Here in NYC, we are paying $600 a week to house homeless families in single room hotels/motels.  That's $2400 a month just in rent alone for ONE family.  NYC holds a great deal of unused real estate which could easily be converted into permanent  housing rather then paying such outrageous money for temporary housing or disgusting shelters.  The feds give NY funds for temporary housing and must be used in only that way rather than using it to create permanent residences.  Tell me that's not ridiculous.

As for Big Pharma, they rake in billions of dollars a year in profits.  I have no sympathy for them and they have plenty of leeway to keep their employees.
