Discussion»Questions»Science and Technology» Could there be a science beyond relatively, quantum mechanics could explain ghosts, psychic phenomena and other paranormal/woo stuff?
So for you three, Psychiatry, Psychology and the whole body of study into mental illness and human suffering is just bonk. And that somehow makes sense to you three people. While you talk about science.
It's basically zero dimensional element of space and time. For example you could be born, celebrate all your birthdays and die at the same instant. Would you like that?
Interesting stuff to study.

That's a concept that might be useful to have in mind if you decide to study QM. There's the Schrodinger cat in the box experiment, there's quantum entanglement and how scientists are building quantum computers etc.
I have only read articles about QM in science magazines and the Internet; I don't know of any good books to recommend for in-depth study. It is really interesting stuff though.
It is always a possibility that something like that will be discovered.
So far though our progress have mostly been in the other direction, with wishful beliefs being replaced by explanations that have the benefit of being correct even though they are often a bit boring :)
eg: elves in the garden is much more romantic (and cute) notion than the sun glinting of the wings of insects. Yet much as we might want elves to exist, it is pretty certain by now that they dont.
I think God, Satan et al are a little too imaginary. I cannot doubt existence of ghosts since I lived with one in a room I rented one time. There is significant evidence for psychic phenomena as well. Various kinds of paranormal phenomena. If they do exist there must be some natural means which can enable such to exist. I am not inclined to believe in un-natural nature of supernatural powers that must be availed only from a God source or Satan source.
I think concept of supernatural forces by early man to explain natural phenomena in turn inspired the idea of sort of person-lke or animal-like figures which became the first gods.

I mean, there's probably a shit ton we don't know, but there's no reason to believe that that thing we don't know is all about ghosts (in fact, if that's all the mysteries of the universe hold I'll be very disappointed, show some more creativity, universe.)
