I think you somewhat mischaracterize the situation.
Like many people, Der Pumpkinfuhrer doesn't like being told things contrary to his beliefs/wishes. That's a bit different from having a healthy skepticism of the excesses of America's bureaucratic and self-interested National Security State.
But history shows the (bureaucratic self-interested) National Security State tends to start telling the President what he wants to hear (cf. 2002-2003, "Sure, Iraq has CBN weapons and we'll be greeted as liberators").
That's where I think the real danger lies. Our intelligence agencies will start telling The Orange One what he wants to hear, and that will be justification for Emperor Tiny Hands' irrational and dangerous policies.
Narcissists don't like the idea that other people know more than they do. It makes them feel reliant, inferior, dependant when what they need to feel is supreme, exceptional and superior.
There's no valid reason to disregard intelligence, just the ones in Trump's head, for which I blame his father (interesting to check out how narcissists are often formed). How it will pan out is open to question, but I think the most likely result will be that the intelligence community will begin to act more without oversight from or knowledge of the elected representatives.
They will still do their work or much of it, but instead of reporting to Trump, they will either re-route the information to make it seem to Trump like he thought of it, or arrange for things to get done without permission. A third option would be to set up a government within a government - always a dangerous thing to attempt for all sorts of reasons.
All these are to be avoided, but the first is preferable. When the US gets to choose again, it can weigh up the results of it's last choice and hopefully will ask itself some searching questions. However, if the political establishment and the US media doesn't ask these questions (of their own performance, ideologies and policies), the public will be wasting their time.
