So pro-gun people, are you afraid to carry because the cops will shoot you on sight, no questions asked these days?

What is the point of carrying a gun for protection when the protectors shoot you? And kill you too.

A related, but different, issue is, if the guy with the long-range sniper rifle was picking you off, (like those cops, or JFK) what good would your right to carry weapon do? You wouldn't even see the shot coming!

    Hi Step,

I agree.  I stopped interjecting because the format here does not allow for an easy exchange between more than 2 people.

I thank you for understanding this and I agree.

    Camel,

Isn't this ironic?  This question was posted one day before the next mayhem

    The cop shooting in Dallas.

Well, then they can say you are hiding a concealed weapon since you said nothing.  You cannot win.

It is worth the misdemeanor to neutralize what would otherwise be an extremely frightful situation for all involved. I realize my experience is not the standard. In fact, I had the piece shoved between the passenger seat and center seat with a loaf of bread sitting on top of it. When they asked to search, I decoyed the younger of the two on a backpack I had in the front floorboard. They actually had to search twice before they found it.

Had every detail of this not happened exactly the way it did, had they caught even a glimpse of what they thought was gun, while I was in the vehicle (in the night), it could all have turned out completely differently. I know that.

But I stand by my assertion, the misdemeanor is worth living to fight another day. imho

When you are carrying, there are rules you must follow. You inform the officer that you are carrying. You do not reach for your wallet or anything else. You are polite (you should do this in all situations)
Personally I'd have the officer remove my gun himself so as he would not feel threatened or nervous about the situation.

If you are white and drive a nice car you should be safe under these guidelines.
