It's a disgusting letter. That's what it is! Who wants the letter "u" in their lives. I'll tell you what! Go up to anybody you want in real life and ask them what their favorite letter is. I will guarantee you...NOBODY IS GOING TO SAY "U".

I could knock the letter "u" out cold in the first rd. Spark-out. LET'S GO CHAMP!!

  • It's because Americans don't sufficiently value astrology. If they did they'd know all the people born in April (Aries, the Ram) would spend their formative years looking for U's (ewes). So, in order to discredit astrology, they drop them out.

In Australia we not only use the British spelling and include U where it belongs, but we even give it more weight when using the vowels in second person plural form. That is, A, E, I, O and Youse.

Wasn't it GBS who said that England and America were two countries divided by a common language?

  • Youse exists in the USA.   It's like y'all but more mid-Atlantic coast.

"Youse from Philly?"  " Nah, we're NY'ers.    Youse Philly boys  godda problem wit' that?"

  • Good to know. My final job was working for the public service in Sydney and, in our office, two words that were overused to death were "youse" and "criterions" (rather than criteria). Don't ask about criteria -- it was kind of bureaucratic-speak.

Maybe they forgot about that one. Maybe the love for 'U' got too strong. Maybe... Hmm... I'll stick to follow the spellcheck on the device I'm on. Sorry folks, they are not the same, one is UK and another is US. Meanwhile let's listen to U2 with One... Oh Mary J Blige joins them on this one...
