  • after breaking up, a person might want to avoid beginning another commitment for an extended period. otherwise you never get a break.... up. you have to rebound. it's easier without the stress of a new relationship... imo.

I'm not sure, but it won't help if one keep hoping they will come back into your life. Acceptance is the first important part. There will still be plenty of other stuff to deal with, but they will be easier if you have found yourself accepting it's a break up.

    10. Get back together, especially as a knee-jerk reaction.

    9. Seek revenge.

    8. Implode emotionally.

    7. Explode emotionally.

    6. Shut down from the world.

    5. Take it out on others.

    4. Drown the pain with/through addictive behaviors.

    3. Assume that everyone wants to here about it.

    2. Assume that it's the end of the world.

    1. Forget that there are billions of pebbles on the beach.

  • I think it's better not to contact the ex at least until all the grieving's done and the lessons learned.

Pretend they don't care.  It's always better to feel the hurt and pain and then try to continue life.  It can take a long time.  A long time.  And, in the meantime it's best, in my opinion, not to get involved with anyone.  Really the smartest thing is to cut off contact too.  I mean 100%.  They will write claiming to not understand why, but that is just a way to force contact.  Be strong and have no contact whatsoever.

Hook up with a new someone on the fly. No sense in dragging others into the mess.

Jump into bed with anything that comes along.  I have friends like that.

HAD friends like that. I cannot be around people who act like that for too long.

    Dear Thrifty,
I hope you're doing well and everything's peachy. Listen, I just wanted to drop you a few lines to let you know that I am truly unsure of what went wrong with what we had and why it ended. I am very much interested in knowing your side of it. Please answer soon.

The best way for a woman to get over the last man is to get under the next one.

(It's as if I'm a sage or something, right?)
