Well, policies would be nice, but they seem to be out of fashion recently - among politicians too, which is most unusual, if not entirely unexpected.
I struggle sometimes to understand the inner workings of other nations and I've noticed this among others - only natural since they've never been 'here' and I've never been 'there' and this can make proper discussions with a basic level of understanding very tricky.
The problem I'm afraid is that far too many people know far too little (and some care even less) about how their (and other) countries are run, or why. The best way to remedy that would be to have a conversation, but as any politics section seems to attract those whose answer is motivated by ego, this can be nigh on impossible.

I hardly doubt you'll make any. No offence meant, but all I see are tow sides throwing stuff at each other without really listening to each other, or searching for any dialogue. It makes it all very polarized and questions does thereby appear more like news headings than really looking for a debate that actually could effect changes. IMHO. Thanks giving your viewpoints.
No set up. You replied freely to my question, and I made a comment back based on your reply. Had you said something else, my reply would have been differently. I was merely giving my view on your reply, as you tend to do on those replying your questions. As for offensiveness you should go look up your own stuff, not the least what you demand of others and what little you live up to it yourself. I see no offence in my world, or here by telling people how I feel or look at something. I understand now how I should take all your previous replies to me on my comments where you gave me your personal opinion on stuff. Have a nice day.
Political discussion will mean different things to different people and will largely depend on depth of their knowledge.
It may mean repeating, ad nauseum, the line handed out by one party or another, it may mean quoting the "news" from one's favourite media outlet, it may mean debating the underlying socio-economic issues of a community which comprise the fabric of meaningful political discussion.
That's not meant to be judgmental because, in most cases, it's just talk. Hot air.
Very true, we look at it differently each of us. This was my reason asking, as i rarely see any political questions here that really look for a debate, and exchange of ideas based on an open dialogue. I kind of lose interest in them, and must admit I hardly ever read the questions any longer as i know it will be more of the same. Others might look differently on this, but that's how I feel about most of them. Hmm.

I answered a question yesterday about whether the current world events could form the basis for as spy novel and, tongue in cheek, listed a few of them. The result? A tirade from a Trump lover who wanted to blame Obama for Putin's excesses. Sheesh!
Yes. Goes both ways. Neither really is looking for an interesting exchange of viewpoints and thereby a better understanding of where the other is coming from. One thing is for sure, neither I see going to change anyone's views on the one or the other. They are merely confirming each other about the other being out of reach. There will of course be exceptions.
