If a person wanted to start a small business, what would they need?

What kind of skills, capital, training, personality?

First of all they'd need a great idea, and not the least all of themselves motivated to fight for their idea.

  • The idea would be the beginning but from that point, wow!

Depending on the idea there will be different kind of funding/capital necessary. Same goes for skills and the training, if it doesn't come natural to the person. Hmm.

  • Virtually any business needs money. An optimistic backer wouldn't go astray, either, but they're hard to find.

Back in the early days of movie making a young artist named Walt Disney came up with the idea of making animated movies. He approached (if I remember correctly) about 160 banks looking for finance. When he finally cracked it, it was with a banker who said, "I don't know anything about movies, Mr Disney, but your enthusiasm has sold me." How the heck do you keep up that enthusiasm after 160 rejections? Glad he made it.
