    For all of you who do not know, US Naval vessels will fly the flag upside down as a sign of distress. The USA will be in distress mode starting Friday.

    No, you're confused.

    Naval vessels have actually been flying the US Flag upside down for the last 8-years for the reason you state. (Have you not noticed how our Navy has been shrinking?) They get to right it on Friday afternoon. I'm betting I'll hear the sigh of relief from Newport News all the way north in Washington, DC.
