If you could start over again, knowing what you know now, what choices would you make?

And, how do you think your life might be different now if you had made those choices?

The only thing that I can think of that I would have changed would be that I would work less and spend more

time with my girls. I think their lives would have been different as well as my own.

  • Invest in AOL and then get out early. Then invest in Apple around 2000.

Just take more chances with opening up to people, and listen better to what people are telling me.

  • I'm sorry to hear it -- that if you had your time again you would choose that option.

That's fairly close to the age when I began having those sorts of feelings too.

That desire to cease experiencing anything at all.

I can say that in adulthood I've learned to overcome the worst of it and can now enjoy life most of the time.

There's a group you can contact on-line, called The Samaritans, who are excellent at helping with issues of despair, depression, and suicide, at no cost and with no religious agenda.

Or you can friend me if you wish to talk about it.

  • For money, that would have been brilliant! :)

What a tough time that was, all those speculative bubbles and so many that burst. It was hard for almost everyone to guess which would succeed and which flop.

  • Wonderful! I love that. I really believe all of us would be happier and better off this way.

    :)

I would put myself first and I'm sure that would have made me happier.

    Listen to "The Suburbs (C…"
    on Easy Radio Access

    "The Suburbs (Continued)"

If I could have it back
All the time that we wasted
    I'd only waste it again
If I could have it back
You know I'd love to waste it again
Waste it again and again and again

    I've got to ask
    Sometimes I can't believe it
I'm moving past the feeling again
    Sometimes I can't believe it
I'm moving past the feeling again
    Sometimes I can't believe it...

  • Yep. There's good cause for that.

When we're happier others often find it easier to relate with us.

I had to learn that one too.

    :)

  • Ah! That one takes lots of people by surprise the hard way.

Me too, though possibly in rather different ways.

  • Hard choices for any parent.

Have never been one myself but was a part-time art teacher for many years, so lots of contact with kids and parents.

so lots of contact with kids and parents.

It seems kids take ages to grow up as each new difficult phase starts

and then suddenly its all gone in a flash

and one really gets it how precious every moment is.
