Do you always try to be polite even to those who aren't? Why?

  • I always try to be polite as my Mother taught me manners and to be polite to all. If someone isn't polite to me? I just ignore and actually feel sorry for them. It's their loss.

You know what Rooster? Some people actually seem to  PREFER being combative/hostile/unkind. It seems to float their boats and ring their chimes. They seem to thrive on it. Why I do not know. I try to be polite. I don't always succeed. I'd rather just walk away then get into it with folks who goad. I get nothing out of it and I don't like wasting my time! Thank you for your reply and Happy Sunday!:)

How often do you just walk away O? I usually do that. Otherwise it's a waste of my time. Thank you for your reply and Happy Sunday! :)

Me too. I choose to just walk away if I encounter someone who seems to be hoping for a battle.  Thank you for your reply MaCC and Happy Sunday to thee! :)

"afraid so"?  I think being polite is a good thing Zack. Just because some folks prefer to operate at scummy insulting levels you don't have to lower yourself to  join them. Thank you for your reply! :)

  • Yes, always.
When they are polite, it is a pleasure talking to.them, even if we disagree.
When they are not, I still try to be polite, otherwise I'll just want to punch them.
    Not really...kind of...

I usually ignore or walk away. They can play that game all alone. They don't need me as a foil. Thank you for your reply Lago and Happy Sunday! :)  Some folks are one-trick ponies.  Always the same. Or one-note johnnies. They are so predictab le. It does get quite boring quite rapidly. I don't hang around. I move on to more interesting folks  :)

  • I was reading an analysis on the character of Captain Hook. The phrase "slave to an idea" popped up and it sorta stopped me for a second.
I think it is easier to comfort new I.formation. to.what we.already believe. Changing your mind takes effort as it put into question not only that belief, but every belief that supports it. It is painful. And we don't want to do it. So we trudge along stubbornly holding on to outdated ideas.
I personally love to change.my mind, to be proven wrong,  it tells me that.im.still.growing and learning,
I think that all.you can do is show them a different way.
I think some people are like that, slaves to their own ideas. You know? This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at January 29, 2017 10:09 AM MST
