Discussion»Questions»Life and Society» Outcome isn't the only thing that makes you a WINNER. So does participation. The journey is what matters most. Not the destination Right?
Nice. I have heard of Grantland Rice but honestly I don't have a clue who he is so I shall Google him. I assume he was sports person. Thank you for your reply Plingsby and Happy Monday to thee! :)
And to you too :) The quotation is much used in the British (and old British Empire) game of cricket where for many years "How you played the game" was genuinely considered to be as important as winning.
There is even an expression "That's not cricket!" which means not fair, or cheating or not in the correct spirit.
Oddly Grantland Rice had probably never heard of cricket.

In the world of sports, a 'participation trophy' is considered crap because a true athlete must work his skills for years to accomplish the results of a champion.
I didn't say a word about "participation" trophies bh. That isn't the point of the question. Which do YOU get the most out of ...getting there or being there? Isn't the journey just as important as reaching the destination? You don't need trophies to make it worthwhile. Thank you for your reply! :)
Yes. If you focus on the journey with the end as a goal, you will realize that the goal is not the prize, but rather the quality of time you spent getting there.
Did you waste it? Did you think only of someday? Like you cannot be happy, content unless that goal is reached? Then what? The gift is to try and enjoy or at least learn every moment we are alive. Then every moment is a personal goal.
Yep. Being part of something. Taking a chance. Doing your best. Getting out there yourself instead of sitting on the sidelines taking potshots at other people! Thank you for your reply Ozgirl and Happy Monday! :)
