Where was the outrage when Pres. Obama banned Iraqis, or Carter banned Iranians? Were they legal?

The countries in the temporary ban are countries that Pres Obama designated as terror supporters.
Why were Obama's and Carter's bans legal but not Pres Trump's?

  • They weren't based on  religious beliefs. That's why people take issue with it.

Trump's ban is from countries Pres Obama determined are terrorist supporters. It is based on that.

  • That's not how many people see it and that is his own fault due to his own words.

True... that is one of the downfalls of not being a politician, non-politicians have not learned to that everything they say can and will be used against them and also twisted by the other side.

  • I don't know if I would call it twisting his words.

  • None of the counties banned have citizens responsible for American deaths in the usa ... the counties that citizens have been responsible... Saudi Arabia... have not been banned... the fact that trump has business interests in saudi Arabia is only coincidental .. wink wink

  • To be fair, just about all our recent Presidents had interests of some kind in Saudi Arabia.   They been the elephant in the room for quite some time.

Then why are they the 7 countries Pres Obama identified as a threat?

In December 2015, President Barack Obama signed into law a measure placing limited restrictions on certain travelers who had visited Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria on or after March 1, 2011. Two months later, the Obama administration added Libya, Somalia, and Yemen to the list, in an effort, the administration said, to address “the growing threat from foreign terrorist fighters.

Did you read the reply by Oz? Did you read your own words; certain travelers who had visited? You do realize the difference between visit and coming from, and the difference between certain and all, no? This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at January 30, 2017 7:00 AM MST

Why would Pres Obama be worried about people visiting these specific countries? Perhaps Obama was worried about who they "visiting" in the countries, were they "visiting" the terrorists who "come from" there.

Obama temporarily banned "ALL" Iraqis in 2011 for 6 months after al-Quada members were found in KY were living as refugees.
    ABC reported:

As a result of the Kentucky case, the State Department stopped processing Iraq refugees for six months in 2011.....

Certain might be the missing detail in your objective here.

Keep defending your pick, doesn't make him any better as a person, or giving his job and the country he serves the respect suited. Fine by me if you want to be judged on supporting his values. Didn't see that one coming though. Hmm.

    Have a lovely day. Bye.

    Hello my:

    (
    1) If I were Trump, I would NOT listen to ANYTHING the FOUNDER of ISIS says.  But, strangely, he IS.  (2)  No Americans have been killed in terrorist attacks from refugees ON that list..  On the other hand, America HAS suffered DEATH from terrorists, from countries NOT on that list..

I wonder WHY that is..  Don't you?

    That's why.

They went with the countries were on Pres Obama's list already in law. Trump's EO expanded Obama's law. The EO did not mention the 7 countries the only country mentioned in Trump's was Syria.

As I understand it some of the questionable countries not on the list are because they help in the war on terror.

Saudi Arabia "helps" in the war on terror yet has been known to funnel monies to the terrorists or terrorist organizations.

The reason I put "help" in quotation is because you can't help in the war on terror if you're contributing to it.
