Uh, ... Look up the meaning of "sovereign". Countries don't go to court, they go to war.

What is the world court? Ozgirl mentioned it on this thread. I shall Google it. I did not know of its existence. Did you? What was the basis of the Nuremburg Trials?  I know what sovereign means JV.  Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday to thee.

Basis of Nuremburg Trials.. War crimes, (stuff done that did not agree with the rules of war) but you must remember that the loser is the one tried, cause the winner is too strong for anyone to impose a penalty on.  And the so called World Court is UN based, and the US has Veto power in the UN so it is meaningless as far as the US is concerned.

  • As an EX member of the EU and a current, (still) member of the UN we are well aware of the Hague.. however, it would be true to say it has limited power worldwide, is more often used in an advisory role, and is much dependent on the individual country's willingness to be bound by the findings. • I think this quote would explain why it would never happen.

War is not an independent phenomenon, but the continuation of politics by different means.

  • There is a world court... Except America never signed the agreement ... But countries have been sued by corporations mainly over trade related Issues ... If a country can be sued, does it stand it can also initiate such action ... Maybe?

I dunno Ozgirl but the USA definitely needs to have its a** hauled into court by countries of the world and sued for this stoopid a** Muslim travel ban. Seriously. I know a lot of lawsuits have already been filed. We shall see if they have any teeth. Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday.  So there is a world court? Does that mean that if a country commits war crimes other countries can form a tribunal and sue them? Were the Nuremberg Trials set up like that? I guess I should Google it since until you answered this question I did not know about a World Court. Thanks for the new-to-me information m'dear. I appreciate it!  :)

  • I might not agree or appreciate Trump's stupid ban either but if we start some BS world court were countries can sue each other over immigration or travel bans then the world is going to get a hell of a lot more screwed up than already is.
Really?  You think other nations, or anyone should be able to sue a nation for a travel ban?   Really?
So much for sovereignty and independence.

The Hague would have no jurisdiction over a country's immigration policy.
