The owner of another social site just joined to promote theirs and I suspended them. They want to know why I closed their account. What should I tell them?

LMAO I kid you not. They used their real company email address to join and then promoted their website and then sent me a message asking why I suspended them. I'm kind of at a loss for words here. Help me out, guys.

I think my first draft of my letter to the person used the word "gall," but same concept.

Yeah, they weren't the first competitor to make an account here, but the others tried to cover up who they were. I guess maybe the person either thought I wouldn't look or didn't care.

I generally give one when someone asks, unless it's a troll who has been a pain.

I would remove an account for spamming. There's a big difference between members talking about another site (which I leave up) and people who open accounts just to promote themselves. It's like McDonalds employees walking into a Burger King and telling customers to go across the street. You don't think the Burger King employees would let the McDonalds people sit at the counter and keep up with it, do you?

As a member, do you really want the site to be filled with spam posts from random businesses, or would you rather see posts from your friends and acquaintances? Removing spam and spam accounts goes with the territory.

Oh, we do get those folks, too, but I usually catch them at the door or right away.

I'm not going to say which site owner it was, but the post didn't seem malicious...  Eh. Now I'm going to overthink it. lol
