So, you have to violate the Constitution to do that?

I don't feel like debating you on Constitutional Law. However, I will direct you to a link. If you want to question its source, you'll be questioning it by yourself. Toodles!!!

    Hello TT:

In a nutshell, the ban says that when it's over religious minorities will be given preference over Muslims..

The government simply cannot prefer one religion over another.. It's a violation of the Establishment Clause in the 1st Amendment..

Thanks excon,he said it has nothing to do with religion, it's for our safety for other reasons, also Obama and Bill Clinton said the same thing  about those countries.

    Hello f:

This ruling has NOTHING to do with confirming rights..   And, EVERYTHING to do with what the government simply CANNOT do.  And, they cannot prefer one religion over another..

What makes you think that his total ban of Muslims will keep America safe?

I agree, but banning guns isn't effective either since there are several cities which have banned them, yet they are easy enough to get if you know someone.

Of course, as long as you can go to another state and buy them, there will be a market.

Most of the illegal handguns in NYC can probably be tracked to a southern state that doesn't require a background check or at a gun show.

Exactly. And as there aren't many ways controlling neither firearms or the bullets that are bought. Hmm.

That's where Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) got his first gun in "Death Wish". City boy couldn't do **** to defend himself or his family, and then he brought it back to NYC to teach the street punks a lesson! And he did it BIGLY!! :D This post was edited by my2cents at February 6, 2017 7:20 PM MST

All states require a background check. All states require a background check even at a gun show or online.

When you buy a gun at a gun show, yes they do a background check.  They submit the information to ATF and if they don't hear back in a short period of time, the gun can be sold.  What they don't tell you is that the ATF is so overwhelmed with these kinds of checks that it is sometimes not possible for them to get back to the gun seller in that period of time.  That's when the person who maybe shouldn't own a gun, gets one.

It is a "3 day" period of time for the "default proceed" law goes into effect.
Most gun shows don't even last 3 days, most are 2 day (Sat and Sun) Yes there are about 2,500 people who are allowed to purchase annually who should have been denied. And these are not just at gun shows.

Now personally I think there should not be a "default proceed" law.

I know that. But that was not the topic. It was said there are southern states that don't require background checks and gunshows. That is simply not true.

To me knowledge  private sales in most states (not just southern) are not required to do a background check. This post was edited by my2cents at February 7, 2017 6:30 AM MST
