Sometimes my thoughts make me realize that, but then again someone or something comes along that changes those negative thoughts. When that happens, you just have to say "f**k it" and roll with the punches.

  • You are going through a difficult time with that horrid job...don't let a bad experience like that define you, Dear Pearl. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at February 21, 2017 9:27 AM MST

    Pearl...there are deeper
    realizations to have
    that will bring insight
    to you.
    Don't get stuck in
    mediocrity .

  • Oh yes, Cosmic Wunderkind...indeed I do...

Yes, and as I age I love the feeling of being insignificant more and more...it is such freedom when you realize how unnecessary you are, such fun! Totally recommend this...unnecessary-ness and insignificance...quite delightful...

  • When, in my youth, I would display arrogance, my mother would say: "It's your young blood which makes you vain; but with age will come humility."

Yes, I remember in my pretentious teen years, I thought I was so great and better than everyone else. Now I realize I'm no better and it actually feels pretty good because now I don't really have such high expectations for myself and I hated feeling like a pretentious turd.

Not really. I am finding more and more that people depend on each other to survive. We never know what small acts we perform have a big impact on someone else's life.

  • Yes, JaneS, sometimes just a little silent patience with someone in pain, goes a long, long way in establishing a new friendship or cementing an old one.

The more I age means the more cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys and other animals I eat. Also the more bedbugs, cockroaches,  ants, mosquitoes and maggots I kill...

How does aging make anyone insignificant?

Your question aptly paraphrases her words.

  • Yes,
Although I wouldn't call the aging process particularly progressive.

Am thinking that no one is insignificant
    in the eyes of God
all are totally loved and have
many blessings that are yet to be discovered by most people.
...Through the eyes of worldly awareness
we might not appear to be significant in
    the overall appearance of things,
but in Gods eyes we are each
a valuable asset to the working
    of the world through
    Peace, love, compassion and understanding.
WE each have everything we need to be in oneness
with the essence of life. To be aware that we are gods
upon the Earth. To be aware that our individual Soul
is that of God, the absolute, very significant.
Of course if we deny all of the above,
identify with the body, and not the Self,
and think that that's all there is to life
to be born and die some time later,
    one might think insignificant thoughts,
if one is locked within the world of thought
and in seeing nothing but the illusion.
But once we have a direct experience
    of our essence and realize
we are gods upon the earth...very significant.

         anyway...just some loose insignificant thoughts
    appearing to some.
To others a deeper understanding of life
    is possible. IMHO.

  • May I venture to ask if you're a devotee of Meher Baba?

    Wisdom Tooth
My experience with Meher Baba is as follows.
On my way to India long ago,
I was on a train going through Germany and was thinking
of Meher Baba because He had just left his body.
All of a suden I was sitting with Him on a bench
in a beautiful garden of flowers, sweet fragrancies,
and warm sunshine. He talked to me of the value
of silence, and what could be found within silence.
And then it was over and i became conscious of being on the train.
That was my only experience with Meher Baba.
But a valued experience to me it was.
    Cheers

    It showed me one thing
and I have experienced with all of my
    Spiritual Teachers.
    If you think about them
fill your head and your heart
with them...They are there with you.
    ...That's what they do.

As I grow older, I am aware that I am both infinitely superfluous and infinitely valuable....

    I relish both roles...
