If someone accuses you of being prejudiced say "of course I am. What are choices but prejudices we act upon"?. Wonder what they'll say?

Having preferences, choices is being prejudiced toward or against. How can you separate prejudiced from choosing between or among? No matter how you justify them they indicate what you like and don't like as much.  What you accept and what you reject. Big deal, right?

Not prejudice is not the same as simply making a choice.
Prejudice means to prejudge something/someone this normally happens without any evidence supporting the judgement.
Making a decision about clothes or food is not prejudice if I judge by they taste of the food or the style of the clothes etc
I can meet a person and have NO opinion about them until I get to know them and/or see how they react to people and situations.
If I meet someone and I prejudge them based on their appearance, sex, race etc that is prejudice and it is wrong.

  • You can say it, but I don't believe that you would have NO first opinion. I do believe, people may save that opinion until shown to confirm that FIRST opinion. With all due respect, I believe you are fooling yourself.

I do agree that the basis of prejudice varies on the circumstances, like food, clothing and other material things. When it involves people, everyone still has some form of prejudice. JMO

Everyone has a first impression of people and of objects. But most people have learned to reserve judgement because first impressions are normally very deceiving.

Prejudice is often used as a term of abuse to those whose opinions differ. Not to be confused with real prejudice based on irrelevant factors such as skin colour.
