Whose more creative: the painter or the chemical engineer that created the paint?

Well, the painter can use natural colors too, he could squeeze out blue berries and get the color blue....and do the same with certain types of leaves too....creativity needs no artificial paint....;)) The chemical engineer just used formulas and created the resultant,his is also creativity but it didnt involve imagination or did it? The engineer is a workman, providing the materials an artist uses. The artist takes that material and uses it to lift us from the ordinary to another plane of awareness. Aldous Huxley said that, in his experience, he was transported to "the antipodes of the mind where all manner of strange beasties dwell." 

Assuming the painter is an artist, methink the painter more creative. The engineer creates tools and with those tools a painter may create a masterpiece. i think theyre both equally creative

To the extent that either uses their imagination and inventiveness to come up with something original, both of them can be equally creative. IMO, a computer programmer who comes up with new ways of performing processes is more creative than a painter who depicts the bowl of fruit sitting in front of him.
