Why are dishes/recipes less satisfying at room temperature? Either hot or cold and seldom do we like them lukewarm.

Less desirable may be a better word.

Because with certain foods room temperature is prime breeding ground for bacteria. I personally can't eat room temperature food if I know that in a half-hour I'm going to be hugging the porcelain god.

It's strange I don't like 'hot' food.. I like it warm. Not luke warm really, but not HOT. I can never taste it well if it is too hot. I think it is kind of like too 'settled' if it is room temp maybe, and that might be why we don't enjoy room temp.  food.. like it's been sitting and not fresh, perhaps.

  • It's an injunction from my good buddy, God. Revelation 3:16 says, "So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth." So if God doesn't care for anything luke warm, and if we are created in his image, it's reasonable to think that we inherited his distaste. It's in our DNA.

I don't eat food when it's hot, I always get blisters in my mouth if I do.
