Discussion»Questions»Animals (Wild)» Should a chimpanzee be treated as a person with legal rights? That will be determined in a New York Court. Whatcha think?
Well if you see the word "Chimpanzee" and it brings to YOUR mind Donald J. Trump I guess for you it is. Strange baggage you carry with you Malizz. You might to try to figure out why. Thank you for your question and Happy Saturday.
NO a chimp is not a person. They are animals. They should not be mistreated. There are laws for mistreatment of animals already. Just enforce the laws we have already on the books.
Well, If I understand it correctly, it's not about declaring him to be a person. Rather, it's about treating that chimpanzee as a person in so far as having certain legal rights that a real person has.
In contract law, I can own and animal and enter into a binding contract to sell its heir.
It caught my eye tom. I think many humans are not treated as persons. It would be interesting if a chimpanzee were treated better. Wouldn't it? Thank you for your reply and Happy Saturday! :)
I suspect that some animals in America are treated generally better than some humans anywhere.
But at the moment, legally it is a gift rather than a right.
I studied some law, and part of the course work was adjucating actual cases and then comparing them to the actual rulings of the judges who heard them.
It gave me a sense of how judges use the rule of law to come up with the law of the case.
