Is civility on life support? Did throwing out the Bible throw out the basis for it? What power forces all to agree on any rules of conduct?
Are laws now only as good as they can be enforced? When broken is there penalty enough to discourage breaking them again? How does a society set its rules on core beliefs that are discredited?
In my opinion, my experience of life, it is not the penalty that encourages us to honor, to civility, to integrity. If we don't access it from within ourselves, it does not happen. Camus, btw, did not believe in God (although not an atheist either).
