I think the Adult section is for people to discuss things that they can't otherwise discuss on the main site; it's not a substitute for porn. I say this as someone who's asexual but has ventured into the Adult section. It's not for everyone, but there's nothing wrong with having it on this site.
The Adult section is where we discuss, share, and compare notes about topics of a nature and content that many would consider too personal or private for the main site. Has nothing to do with "porn" though I guess you could discuss porn on there if you wished. Many of us who regularly post there care nothing for porn which I have always thought unrealistic and geared mostly for appeal to male fantasies.
Adultmug isn't a porn section. Porn sites are for watching and commenting on porn. What is it with prudes and scared of seeing people talk or joke about sex?
Aren't there enough Christian sites for people to blather about nonsense? Aren't there enough news sites to blather about politics? See we can apply this to any topic under the sun.
As others have pointed out, the adult section doesn't function as a porn site. It is for people to freely talk, curse, and post pictures, about anything they want, without the encumbrances of the restrictions that have been placed upon the main site. It is only a sub-section of a larger whole. I don't understand why you are even posting a question about it because you must make a request to join the Adult section. If you have, and you've found you don't like it, you can unsubscribe and be locked out of it again.
Most have been said. There is one more reason why we have the adultMug here. The site allows members of age above 13 here, and furthermore has to meet laws. So not to expose underage members for discussions/posts sexually related we have adultMug. Side remark, it is funny how people who haven't attended the area have a full blown picture of what happens inside the adultMug. This isn't only related to the OP, I still haven't seen anyone able to explain what adultMug is in this place. Examples mentioned by some members relate to other sites, but the adultMug here is really rare and also a place where the tone can be more free without the more conservative/religious members won't be exposed to material as a music video showing women in bikinis.
The more was supposed to emphasize the group of conservatives/religious people we also have here, who does not want to be exposed to the kind of posts we share with each others inside adultMug. I know several conservative and religious members who do take part inside adultMug. Sorry if you felt I took it as the whole group of conservative/religious people as one uniform group only.
How will you know if there's a point without even having spent as much as a second inside the adultMug?

You seem to be using a rather subjective definition of porn. Whoever it was who said, "Ugliness is in the eye of the beholder," might enjoy dissecting that remark.
Healthy discussion centred around sex is, of itself, not offensive. When featured in an open forum like aM it can cause offence to those people whose personal inhibitions make it seem so. Out of good manners most of us use sexual references fairly obliquely so they will not offend those people. AM has provided AdultMug so that such topics can be discussed and shared without offending anybody.
Instead of criticising AdultMug you should perhaps think about applauding the idea. You don't have to go there if it offends you.
