I doubt it. He has made his little token effort, and that will probably be that. Assad is killing thousands every day with conventional weapons, but chemical weapons are the only kind anyone is talking about. I always thought we (the West as a whole) should have put boots on the ground in Syria from day one, and stopped things getting to this point. Anything that is done now is too little, too late, and I doubt if any Western leader is going to do enough. Our inaction let the situation get out of hand, allowed the growth of terrorist groups like IS, and the whole region went up in flames.
Only God knows what lies ahead. I'm not surprised by these developments. These events are a long time coming.
