Ogres don't exist. My late mother-in-law was a clown. I've only seen pictures of her in costume. She made a good clown because she was short and round.

Those insisting they are doing something "for your own good".

Evil is evil, regardless of presentation.

    Laughter is priceless.

    That is subjective.

    Because people think differently.

I think an intervention done by family/friends to save a drug addict from certain death is definitely for his/her own good. To save a life is always a good thing I think. Everything is subjective B. You can never remove yourself from what you think/feel/believe/perceive.  It will all go through the filter/lens of your own making. Thank you for your reply and Happy Thursday! :)

What if death is their desire?  Why is it "always good"?  Is x's decision to save y's life, even against y's desire, really anything other than selfish?

If death is their desire then that is an anomaly. UNLESS the person suffers agonizing pain. Do you?
Life is precious. It should be cherished/nurtured/celebrated. LIFE is a good to me. Not thee?
Doctor's save lives. Are they all selfish? What about soldiers who do the same? Selfish too? This post was edited by my2cents at April 21, 2017 6:35 AM MDT

First off, Rosie, my original statement was about people doing things "for your own good", you narrowed it down to interventions for drug addicts.  Then expanded it to all doctors and military?  Lol.  Nowhere did I say that life isn't precious to me.  Some people do desire death, though.  Shouldn't that be their choice?

Likewise, shouldn't it be a personal choice what to consume, what risks to take, and any other choices that society decides to make for them - "for their own good", often under force of law?
