    Well, no.

But at least you didn't put a comma after "nation" and before the phrase you struck out.

  • Yes.   God, god, or gods have no place in any official language in a free nation.  One founded by secular rule might add.

    Nope ...

Because the flag no longer represents the republic that the Constitution created.
It represents a "free-for-all" form of republic, where the government can "interpret" the Constitution by whatever whims are in style.

Nor does the flag represent a republic with "liberty and justice for all".
It never did, even when the Constitution was being followed.
Those are ideals that Americans have constantly had to fight for, both in the courts and with their own blood on our streets.

    Finally, Americans are sovereign individuals.
We don't automatically owe allegiance to anyone ... least of all our flag or nation or government.

Is it just me or would "Heil Trump" be an appropriate caption for that pic? It seriously looks like those kids are doing a Nazi salute.

Personally if the Pledge Allegiance was introduced in Australia, I'd refuse to do it. My allegiance is to my country and my people, not to a piece of coloured bunting. Our flag needs changing anyway - check my avatar. This post was edited by Slartibartfast at April 20, 2017 10:35 PM MDT

  • That was the original Bellamy Salute that that was stopped in 1942 (Gee..wonder why? LMAO)
From the start of the Pledge of Allegiance, the proper gesture was to hold your right arm out palm-up instead of putting your right hand over your heart

Fun fact: The Pledge was written by Christian Socialist.

  • So was I... The Nazis and the Fascists started doing it and that ended all the fun.

Know what else the US practiced long before the Nazis??? Eugenics   This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at April 20, 2017 11:09 PM MDT

Yep, I knew that, too.  We also continued the practice long after WWII ended.

  • Just remember me so if you ever drop a foot or something, I'll be there. Even if you don't and and something turns a pretty blue, we can still make it work. I'm very resourceful. Did I tell you that before?
