Thank you for your thoughtful answer Sbf. What if they were sitting on billions of barrels of oil? Apparently they have nothing there that other countries coveted. So they lucked out. :)
The Swiss Alps? Ever skied there? That's where Roger Federer lives but I know you know that. Why do they have most of the gold? Thank you for your reply Sbf! :)
Never been there but it's on my bucket list. Skiing isn't really my thing, my back won't take it (lumbar fusion at L5-S1). As for gold, Swiss banks are the most stable and secure. When FDR outlawed the private ownership of gold in the 1930s, a lot of rich folks squirreled it away there. So did the Nazis during the war, a lot if it was untraceable back to the original owners so it stayed there.
Thank you for your informative reply Sbf. Jim has a bad back. My sis and brother-in-law have bad backs. I'm the muscle in the family. My back is fine. Why that is I don't know! So there is tons of gold in Switzerland belonging to people who died long ago? Does it revert to the Swiss then? I mean presumably all Nazis are long-since dead. The Swiss probably have a Fort Knox of their own to protect it. :)
