Are you in favor of raising minimum wage across the board?

I'm not just talking about people in the food service industry, but I'm talking about anyone at any job. A proportionate increase if you will.

I am in favour of MY wages being increased.... but as to everyone... that's not a simple matter...in general terms I am in favour of min wage so that people aren't exploited...

What happens when the minimum wage is not enough to live on for most people working 35-40 hours a week?  Aren't they exploited?

They get a roommate and prepare themselves for a better job.  That's how it works.  There have to be jobs that require no college degree for people to enter the work force.  No one expect to stay in their first job forever.

That's all well and good for someone entering the work force, but what if they are older and returning to work, let's say after raising a family?

What if?  They don't get a better job because they are older.  How silly!!!  Being job qualified is a personal responsibility.

I really hope you never find yourself in a position where you can't work for more than minimum wage.  Of course, if you do, we both know it will be your own fault.  Have a nice day.

Minimum wage has not kept pace with the increase in prices in any way shape or form.  Any job a person spends 40 hours a week doing should be able to support him without being on welfare.
Back in my day a minimum wage job would provide a fair life style; An ability to qualify to buy home, car and live a decent life.

I guess you are older than me but entry level minimum wage jobs were always considered entry jobs into the market but not career opportunities.  They were a place to start if you didn't graduate from college.

    Nope.
I think "minimum wage" needs to be overhauled ... but to say a teenager should make $15 an hour for flipping burgers is ridiculous.
Do I know what the solution is?  Hell, no!  But it would probably wind up looking like the tax code ... hundreds of pages in order to cover multitudes of situations.
