Wellllllllllllllll yes, you make a fair point... I guess I was thinking of Maslow's hierarchy of needs - mecanposis cambrica is definitely at the peak for me :) In fact, I think it has a little bit on the top of the pyramid all of its own :)

lol nooooooooooooooooooooooo my beloved Hostas!! Mine have just come up.. soon they will be nibbled mercilessly by slugs.. and one or two I lost completely. . they just don't grow well here.. too damp I think..  we always want what we can't have.. Luckily mecanopsis cambrica grows well here.. tho it can be hard to transplant... once it's established it gets everywhere.. I have noticed I have less than I did have so I am consciously going to collect seed and transplant seedlings :)

My other favourite is corydalis.. the form I have most of grows like a weed in my garden and I have noticed has spread to neighbours... it's actually a pretty prized plant... I got it from a gardener who used to tend the garden in our local museum... a true plantswoman..

  • Yeah I know.  You love it.   I always noticed though gardeners tend to love most, the plants that don't grow well in their soil and climate conditions.

I chose to plant azaleas where it was so I can acidify the soil in that area and not have to weed  as much and have some of the reoccuring  invasive plant not have good growing conditions.

We use the slug killer for our hostas. Works great and they grow like weeds.

You know both of you I am very, very partial to a drop of booze myself... love it in fact.. but if I were given a choice, and I don't say this lightly... I would choose the mecanopsis :)

I honestly don't think I could go on living without my children. The thought is absolutely unbearable. The fact that people experience this loss every day and are able to carry on is astonishing.
