Sorry about that. Had to say it before giving you a like so you don't think I like what happened.

In my dream life that happens quite often O-uknow, I wonder if the murky depths of the subconscious are there to make you conquer your worst fears.

No problem, I don't hate and I've learned to protect myself from haters.  In the last few years I have learned just who those haters are.

It's a theory rather than an observation. It's possible to observe the theory but in general terms it's a theory.

Its an observation before a theory. I do not know how long it has been a theory since being an observation and if it is a theory a theory of what? You stand incomplete.

Not necessarily so...there are many theories that are not based on observation or many theories that are just that.. theories.. many are based on hypothesis or even just fear.. The theory you mentioned is not something I have ever observed.. my feeling was that it was more a superstition... People often look to blame things/others and people are often fearful/create superstitions which then they believe as if they are observable facts.. often they aren't..

A theory doesn't have to be a theory *of* anything.. it's just a theory, an idea, a hypothesis, a thought..

    '
    theory
    ˈθɪəri/
    noun
    noun: theory; plural noun: theories
    1. a supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, especially one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained.
      "Darwin's theory of evolution"
      • a set of principles on which the practice of an activity is based.
        "a theory of education"
      • an idea used to account for a situation or justify a course of action.
"my theory would be that the place has been seriously mismanaged"
      • MATHEMATICS
a collection of propositions to illustrate the principles of a subject.

        Also
a coherent group of tested general propositions, commonly regarded as correct, that can be usedas principles of explanation and prediction for aclass of phenomena:
        Einstein's theory of relativity.
        Synonyms: principlelawdoctrine.
        2.
a proposed explanation whose status is stillconjectural and subject to experimentation, incontrast to well-established propositions that areregarded as reporting matters of actual fact.
        3.
Mathematics. a body of principles, theorems, orthe like, belonging to one subject:
        number theory.

So as you can see.. a theory can be factual or conjecture..it was my feeling that the theory you mentioned, that you were calling an observation... was, in fact, a theory.. It was my feeling that to the best of my knowledge it may happen, as in coincidence, which we then link to suspicion and folklore, but that it isn't a factual or observable phenomenon..  more a case of our minds linking it to a superstition or coincidence.

That concept was passed down to me when I was a child.  I think it was an extension of the boogieman and/or God will get you if you don't behave. Bad parenting and worse theology.

Once I realized that God was very much concerned that our lives go well when we continue to "touch base" with Him on a regular basis, I found that "weird observation" to only exist as a self fulfilling prophecy.

It's not a factor in my life anymore.

My parents told me that if I ate apple seeds then apple trees would sprout out of my head... I deliberately ate apple seeds... I thought it would be a cool idea to have your own apple tree on your head.. it never happened though.. lol big disappointment

Methink it more than self fulfilling. We interact with the universe and it responds by cause and effect in ways too complicated to always put into words. A simple example of how the universe responds might be when loathing a common household object like a portrait or painting only to have a good friend buy one and send it to you thinking its whats missing in your life. The universe responded to your lack of tolerance. This post was edited by O-uknow at May 15, 2017 8:46 PM MDT
