.
Yeah. Good luck. Don't let the door hit you in the butt.
And just whose fault will that be if it happens, San Andreas' ?
I know, Californians think that when that earthquake finally happens everything to the east will slide into the Atlantic . . .
First of all, you did not make clear that your question is hypothetical. There is no such election currently planned.
With respect to the hypothetical scenario, I would not be in favor of it. I don't think the United States would be well-served by having the 8TH LARGEST ECONOMY IN THE WORLD taken away from it.
Good luck, California-less United States replacing HALF of your food supply, 1/12th of your oil production, 1/10th of your natural gas production, 1/20th of your industrial output, and 10% of your federal tax revenue.
California is a populated by freaks and cults. If they vote to stay in the Union, kick 'em out.
Please see my answer for a brief analysis of exactly how expensive enacting your bigotry into policy would be.
What constitutes as a cult? What constitutes as a freak? If the story of Jesus is literal which it's not, Jesus came back as a zombie, Jesus is a freak by technical terms. Hey I mean I'm not knocking it but you know just wanted to say that.
Claims without substantiation. The moral well being of the United States is more important than the economics you cite. The depravity and sin of Hollywood alone is reason to hope they leave the Union or are washed into the ocean.
Heaven's Gate. Anton LeVay. The Flat Earth Society. Crystal magic. Small Grays...
@whistle6 -- It is quite ironic you complain about "claims without substantiation" when you yourself simply asserted an "All Californians are X" bigoted statement without any subtantiation on your part.
Meh, I know they've always liked doing their own thing, which I can't blame them for. I just wonder where they're gonna get all of their water if they ever claim sovereignty.
I stand here in Virginia ... thankfully.
I wish I could vote. ;)
They'll have to perfect desalination and make it affordable.
You are not looking at the future possibilities of CA secession. Once they secede, the US can annex them and claim the resources you cite as spoils. Then those resources can be distributed in the US at very nominal cost, boosting our economy.
Maybe we can borrow some water from Texas. They seem to have too much of it these days; and Texas is another state that likes to do their own thing (after all, they did used to be their own country!) so maybe they could relate :P
You forgot Jim Jones, Charles Manson.
