If Jews come from Judah, and were once at war with Israel, why are they calling their state Israel?

As I understand Judah was a southern state and Israel was a northern state, who were at war with one another.

    Just Google Judah and read the Wikipedia piece "Kingdom of Judah". It was in the southern part of what is now Israel.
