Some folks have a short attention span. Others can focus on one thing for as long as it takes. Why the difference?

I know there are "conditions" such as ADD that causes people to get distracted easily. Can that be controlled with meds? Is it a lifelong condition?

  • Something like ADD can be controlled with meds. I was on Clonidine and Adderal for quite some time thanks to ADHD. The meds were actually worse than the condition so I stopped taking them. Eventually, I grew out of the worst of it.

For me, it can depend on whether I like what I'm focusing on. If I love what I'm doing, say gaming or writing, I can focus for hours.
