I'd say so, especially while considering that moral standards change over time. Go back a couple centuries and entire populations are composed of racist, misogynistic pigs. The distain we may have for people who are products of their unchosen genetic make-up and environmental circumstances shouldn't deter us from appreciating the value in admirable work.
When it comes to entertainers, I care more about their material because that's the only reason I'm watching them in the first place. I could also love someone as a person, but not care for their act or whatever.
good question......I've always DETESTED George Clooney!! big smartass......but I decided to see "The Descendants' anyway...after a few minutes, it wasn't Clooney I was watching, but the character he was portraying......I have to say his performance really impressed me!!!
but as for your original though, no, whatever someone's done that may have been despicable, their WORK is what matters........Roman Polanski? for me, "Rosemary's Baby' is one of the best movies of all time!!! I'd have missed an incredible film if I was judgemental about hs private life!!!!!!
art is art and comes first, before anything they may have done!!!!!!!!!!!!
