I'm not sure Balance was one of Randy's forte's... embracing the power of over- indulgence is more the style ;). The problem is, you didn't share, Randy! Where are your manners?!?
In the spirit of disambiguation, are you talking about cooking sherry that is sold as such, or a preferred Manzanilla, amontillado, or Oloroso that you use for cooking as well as drinking?
I'm saying this all in good fun Tom, so please don't take offense... but with a sane and logical name such as Tom Jackson, who would have guessed you to be so literate on so many different avenues? Certainly not me! You never cease to amaze me!! That sentence was true and not in jest! Have a great day!
My answer was a jest that I thought Randy D might enjoy. (Cooking sherry used to contain salt so that it was not fit for drinking and thus not taxed as liquor nor subjected to certain "blue" laws.)
I have a lot of fun on these sites. Sometimes my attempts at humor exhibit too much of a reach and I have to reply to clarify it.
I enjoy learning (especially technical or precise) things about anything I am interested in. I personally enjoy when a "good ole boy" promulgates his esoteric cogitations in a manner that is totally unexpected; and I also enjoy a learned professor who makes a really good unexpected comment that indicates he has far more "street smarts" than his students would ever have expected.
In other words, I love to dabble in the ends of the spectrum occasionally and assume various affectations.
And never be concerned about offending me---anything I say is on a take it or leave it basis at your pleasure. I am well aware that not everyone appreciates everything I say---and most of that is most likely my fault.
Regards...

Hi Tom~ It has been a moment or two .I have been able to get back to you. I, like you, have had many other demands and frivolous things that occupy my time and energy I do find enlightening to read you when you pop up out-of-the-blue, *quick note* (I hope Randy is reading this too and I put my hyphens accordingly) and parenthesis too. Moving on, I would like to say, over the years of popping in and out when you can, I appreciate it. I know Ask.com was the leader for me to even venture onto a site as I recall that is where we met. So, please don't be shy and definitely stop by. I am pleased to see you when you are here and your input, jesting or real is always a pleasure for me to see! Love, Merlin

Tom, this is an observation rather than a statement or a mess of twinkling magic throughout... but I have noticed, the longer i stay looked-upon, as in being logged on here, the more votes I subtract rather than acquire.. It is rather disturbing.
Being on these sites has caused various types of interesting phenomena that I would not have readily expected. On Blurtit, my "likes" went from 1.5 times the number of answers I posted to almost 3 times when I stopped pointing out the errors (serious ones) in answers (and in the related threads) that I found philosophically untenable or (otherwise inaccurate); and simply made statements that were incontrovertible.
People don't like to find out they are wrong. And people don't like to see their friends corrected even when those friends are wrong. On the contrary, I relish finding the right answer if I do not have the whole picture. And if someone thinks I'm wrong, I want to be challenged.
But I'm used to marching to the beat of my own drum---especially at my age.
