Lol. Still waiting for the rest of the family to wake up. I have babysitting duty watching my two year old grandson. The beer and party will start later today along with a backyard low country boil and fire works. Yippy, cant wait. ;)))))

Remember when fireworks were only for July 4th? Oh, how I miss those days!

Lucky for me it's not memorial day and I promise I never, ever have to force beer down my throat; it goes very willingly.

Memorial day isn't celebrated in Australia (we honour Anzac Day on April 25th instead). As for "forcing beers", I'm with the Monkees girl - who has to force them?

Somehow Americans always find a way to make every holiday about forcing beers down our throats, don't we?

Don't forget to raise a glass those who died in service to our country.

When I decided to stay here after Trump was elected, I died in service to my country.

Sorry - I'm not a beer drinker.  I'll have to show my respect for those who gave their lives in another way.

  • Beer is gross. I'll have to celebrate Memorial Day by doing shots of gin instead.

Gin is good - with tonic and a piece of lime. :)

That would be a martini, yes?  The drink that tastes like gasoline (petrol) smells. :)

I don't find that gin and tonic smells that way, nor does gin itself.  :)

I've got to be careful with martinis - they're a good way to get plastered VERY quickly and they sneak up on you. Beer is a good way to relax, it takes quite a lot of it to get drunk. One martini equals three beers and is about one third the quantity.

Never developed a taste for beer other than when I was in Germany decades ago.

Ever been to Australia or the Czech Republic?

I can understand your not having a taste for American beer, it HAS no taste. It's like making love in a canoe ... f**king close to water.

No, never been to Australia or the Czech Republic.  When we were in Berlin, we would come back to the hotel after a long day of sightseeing and we'd stop at the bar and have an ice cold dark beer.  It was the only thing that quenched my thirst.  The problem for me is that after one beer, my arms become lead weights and I need a nap.  The only beer in the States that tasted anything like the one in Germany was Lowenbrau Dark which could only be bought at a certain time of the year - around October/November.
