On internet social sites you tell people what you think. Would it bother you to know they don't read/listen to what you say? Is that OK?

Do you tell people what you think because you need to get a reaction from them or do you say what you think because it pleases you to do so?  If no one cared or listened or read any of it would you still say what you think? Are you a universe unto yourself pleasing yourself without worry about who/what cares or doesn't?

Of course it would bother me and I wouldn't stick around. I'm normal. The purpose of a site like AnswerMug is social interaction with the benefit of learning other viewpoints learning new things, and broadening our horizons. If I only wanted to express my opinions without caring if anyone read them, I wouldn't clog up the feed on a Q&A site.

Of course they don't.   People absorb about 10 percent of what anyone says.  I write for me.  I am listening to me.    If anyone else wants to interject some wisdom, let them interject.

I didn't read any of that; it's not addressed to me.

Ditto. I ask questions for me. If someone chooses to reply with civility and thoughtfulness that is a bonus I cherish. I ignore the usual suspects who simply show up to attack/insult. They want my attention and that is something I shall not give them. I am in charge here over how I spend my time, with whom and for how long. I am the boss of me. No one else.  That makes me giggle. I remember years ago my "baby" sister said "You aren't the boss of me"!. I guess all  younger siblings have said that to older brothers/sisters at one time or another! Thank you for your reply Shar!  :)

You wrote above: "I ignore the usual suspects who simply show up to attack/insult."

Please tell us you're not intimating, pretending, overlooking, denying or even (gasp) outright lying that YOU never attack or insult!  Attacking and insulting comprises a large percentage of your posts!  Hiding behind a platform of politically-based outrage as if it's a badge of victimhood and martyrdom seems to give one license to attack and insult, yet they are attacks and insults alike the same. It must be great to wear blinders that keep one from seeing what he or she does when at the same time accusing others of the exact same actions!

At least be truthful in owning up to your infallibility. Saint Rosie you ain't!

Apparently it's OK for your questions to lack civility and thoughtfulness and yet you demand it in responses. Perhaps if you toned down the negativity and hostility, put some thought into your posts instead of regurgitating the latest piece of news that the media has chosen to sensationalize, and limited your questions to true political issues instead of personal attacks, you might get better responses. However, I suspect that, like any narcissist, it's all about you (you state 'I ask questions for me'), so whether or not you inspire anyone to truly think about issues and engage in debate is immaterial to you. And just like you, I post this knowing that the chances of a civil and thoughtful response are virtually nil.

  • You have stated numerous times that you only read the replies from people you like, You have stated numerous times that you only ask questions that please you. You have stated numerous times that if you don't write something that is understandable, you don't care and will not try to explain it. You do not venture beyond your own questions to be a part of this community. So, can you please answer this question for us?
